Alison began practicing yoga in 2011. Yoga found her during a pivotal time of moving cross country and starting a new job. She immediately knew she liked it so much she could see yoga as something she would want to incorporate into her routine for the rest of her life.
Finding encouragement and inspiration from a previous co-worker, she deepened her practice in 2014 and signed up for a 200 Hr. Teacher Training program. She found it so exciting to be the inaugural group of emPower School of Yoga teacher trainees. The growth and impact from that training has expanded far beyond her physical practice on her mat.
Alison credits yoga as something that has changed her life drastically. For her, it offers a continual source of inspiration and love as well as the physical benefits. Her favorite types of yoga to practice and teach are Power Vinyasa and Restorative yoga classes.
She has regularly assisted at Shakti since the summer of 2015 and loves being on the Assist Team. She continues to deepen her yoga assisting and teaching knowledge through workshops, trainings and through mentors. Alison has been volunteer teaching with Small World Yoga since the spring of 2015. The opportunity to take yoga out into the community is a great privilege and enables Alison to share something she is passionate about.
She genuinely loves teaching yoga and the continual opportunity it presents to connect the body, mind and breath. The commitment to teach in a way that benefits each and every student in her classes is a constant motivator for her. *Alison is on maternity leave as of January 1, 2017*
